Day Four, Part Two: Glacier's Lowlands

Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for Road Trip, Day Four...!

After scoping Grizzlies, we came down the east side of the Road to the Sun.
Glacier Park's lowlands made for a perfect hike...

...away from the foggy summit.

We drove along the majestic Flathead River...

...until we came across a good place to stop and hike.
The rain made for great waterfalls!

We decided to pick a trail that was safe for the weather.
In the rain, bears can't hear or smell you as well.

We picked a spot where the trees were open.
There had been a fire here years ago.

The trail was nice and open, so we could spot any bears that we came across.

The trail followed a flowing creek that ran through beautiful red rock.

On the way back we took time to study the burned out forest.
It was like walking through an art gallery!

No visit to Glacier would be complete without a stop at the visitors center.
St. Mary's Visitors Center was the perfect classroom!
The exhibit had audio lessons on the Native legends of the Coyote, Elk, Wolf...

...and, of course, the Grizzly!
They also had an awesome video presentation featuring
members of the Blackfeet, Salish and Kootenai tribes.

The road calls me to move on...

See you next time!
