Day Two, Part One: Elkhorn, Idaho

Day Two, Part One: Elkhorn

This morning was relaxing.  We started our day with a walk around Elkhorn, the Sun Valley, Idaho resort where we stayed.

Welcome to Elkhorn, Idaho!

Elkhorn is a beautiful place to walk. Right now, the trees are full of Fall colors.

Fall is a busy time on the golf courses.  Right now they are punching the greens.
Here, you can see the plugs of dirt left after a green is punched.
This man's job is to scoop up all the plugs off the green so they can spread sand.

That was our warm-up walk this morning.
See you later with another report...!

  1. Looks like fun... quick question, Todd, why do they punch the greens and why this time of year? Enjoy the journey!!

    1. Erik! On golf courses, they punch (aerate) the greens to allow air to get down into the soil. This helps the roots. Have you ever seen a plant that's lived in a pot for a long time? Its roots gets too compacted. Same with grass on a green. :)

      Thanks for the question!!!
